Griffin News “Yesterday's four o'clock passenger brought Mr. Butler Hudson, of our
city, who had in charge Henry Jones, the
young white man charged with committing
rape on a small negro girl some months ago
on the place 'of Mr. W.P. Hemphill. The capture was affected in Gadsden. Ala, and was
the result of well laid plans by Mr. Hudson,
who gets the handsome reward of one hundred and fifty dollars for his trouble. Jones’
wife went down to see him at the jail, the
meeting being a very affecting one. His crime
is a frightful one. however, and, unless the circumstances can be mitigated, the chances are
in favor of his swinging from a beam.”
