Moultrie, Ga Sept. 15.-Scott Williams,
a negro boy about 17 years old. was placed
In Jail to-day on a charge of assault with
Intent to rape upon the young girl of Mr
Ben Sharp. a prosperous farmer In Ihe
eastern part nf th* county.
It appear, That he entered the room
about 12 o'clock Thursday night, but in
some way woke the young girl, who gave
the alarm, and her father came and caught
him before he accomplished his purpose
The boy had been raised by Butler Sharp*. a brother of Ben Sharp,
the ex-sheriff of the county, and the
appeals of his brother and wife saved his
life, and will allow the law to take its
course. Both of the Menu. Sharp
brought the boy Into Moultrie and de
livered Mm to Sheriff Fisher. and they
have received the hearty congratulation*
