Description
CHILD'S NEGRO ASSAILANT IS WILMINGTON MAN
Coatesvllle, Pa., June 9.-—A negro, who to-day assaulted little Bessie Smith, near here, is a prisoner in the borough lock-up, and he will probably have to answer the charge of murder, as the child's life is despaired of. He is Thomas Hobson, about 40 years old, and his home is In Wilmington, Del. The black man's victim is but seven years old and frail. Hobson Is a powerful follow, nearly six feet tall. Finding the little girl alone at Rock Run. half a mile from this town, he choked and brutally assaulted her. Help came for the child, but too late. The negro when discovered fled from his victim to the woods. A posse was soon on his track, and this afternoon he was caught on Potter's Hill. His
captors hustled him into Coatesvllle. Hobson will be given a hearing on Monday.
