Description
WOMAN RUN DOWN, DRIVER UNDER ARREST
While waiting to board a trolley car at Seventh and Market streets, yesterday afternoon, Mrs. Rebecca Merritt, 74 years of age, of 1020 Tatnall street, was run down by an automobile truck of F. F. Slocomb and Co. Inc., driven by William Boyce. She was taken to the Homeopathic Hospital, where her injuries, which proved to be of minor nature, were dressed.
Boyce was arrested on charges of operating an automobile while intoxicated and assault and battery. Hearing of the charges were continued until Tuesday by Judge Hastings, in Municipal Court, this morning, at the request of Boyce, who said that he wanted to obtain counsel. He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Mrs. Merritt, nervous and limping as a result of being run down, was to be in court this morning.
