Description
USED RIFLE TO SCARE SUITOR
Kengrzywski Adopted Drastic Manner of Driving Away Sister's Friend
HELD UNDER $500 BAIL FOR COURT
Albin Drejka prolonged his courting of Martha Wengrzywski just a little too long and persistently last night, with the consequence that when he did decide to leave, he did it in a hurry and took no time to offer objections. He made a hasty retreat from the house, while Frank Wengrzywski, Martha's brother, banged away twice with a rifle.
The facts were brought out in Municipal Court this morning when Frank was given a hearing on a charge of assault with intent to commit murder. He was held in $500 bail for court by Judge Hastings.
Frank admitted that he fired the rifle to frighten away the persistent lover, but said that it was the only effective wav he found in getting Albin away. The defendant said, however, that he had no intentions of hitting Drejka, but fired in the air.
Martha told the, court that 'when her brother came out with the rifle and started aiming at Drejkw, who immediately started his flight, she grabbed it and directed the shots upward to save Albin from injury.
This was not the first time that Albin got into trouble over Martha. Several weeks ago he was tackled by two other youths when he resented a remark they made.
