Crime of Arson
Arson is the crime of a person burning down property, whether belonging to the arsonist or belonging to someone else. Historians talk about arson being a crime with specific motives behind it, such as insurance claims, revenge, etc. There was also a lot of talk about how antisemitism fit into arson as a historical crime.
This newpaper however, has a fair amount of articles that do not talk about arson as a crime in and of itself at all. Instead they use arson as propaganda or they mention the crime arson but talk about other crimes instead. There are about five articles that have nothing to do with arson as a crime in and of itself, five articles mention arson but don't focus on it, focusing instead on other crimes, five articles deal with arson but strictly in relation to money and insurance in some way.
In addition, none of the articles mentioned Jewish people committing the crime in any way, even the articles from the New England area. Instead, when not talking about wealthy men seeking insurance and monetary gains, the articles looked at seemingly poorer citizens committing the arson.
