SPECIAL GRAND JURY CALLED TO
INVESTIGATE OMAHA'S RIOT
Omaha, Sept. 30.óDistrict judges in session this afternoon called a special grand jury October 0 for the purpose of investigating the recent riot, which resulted in the lynching
of William Brown, the negro identified as the assailant, of Miss Litbeck; the death of two other parties,the attempt on the life of Mayor Smith and the damaging of the Douglas county court house and
looting of luisin ss houses.Charges of murder, attempt to
kill, arson, etc., will be filed against over sixty rioters who aye known by the police. Over forty are now in custody. So far the county attorney states that murder charges will be
filed against fifty.Upon the advice of Major General Leonard Wood, in command of the troops here, the hoard of governors of the Ak-Sar-Ben decided to call off tire parades to have been held
commencing Wednesday night. The Con Kennedy carnival which has
been showing here was also closed.
