Description
Alleged Chicken Thief Captured. Abe Landrick, alias Johnson, colored, aged forty years, was caught yesterday morning about 5 o'clock by Policeman Giles of the county mounted force in the act of robbing the poultry house of Samuel Frizzell, on the canal road. The policeman was riding by and his attention was attracted by sounds coming from the poultry quarters. He dismounted and investigated and detected a man in the act of robbing the roosts. Landrick discovered the policeman and endeavored to escape, but after a chase was caught. He was walked into Georgetown and was landed in a cell at the station. The policeman resumed his investigation and found the bodies of three pullets and one rooster and one turkey, which had been thrown away by Landrick. The pullets and rooster were valued at $3, while the value of the turkey was placed at $1.50. The hens and rooster were stolen from the roost of Mr. Frizzell. The turkey was identified as being the property of John Amberg, who lives in the same locality. Two charges of petit larceny were placed against the name of the prisoner. A number of thefts in poultry houses in the suburbs have been reported to the police, but this is the first arrest made. Landrick is well known to the police and is alleged to have been guilty of the same offense before.
