- Description
- Yesterday morning a cowskin was stolen from Mr. C. E. Brauer, at the first market, and offered for sale to another party. Information of the theft was left with Sargeant Whitlock, who with the information at hand arrested Moses Dickerson and John Johnston and carried them before Police Justice. There was no evidence against Johnston, and he was discharged; but Dickerson was convicted, sent to jail for thirty days, and punished with ten stripes. The whole affair, including arrest and conviction, occupied about two hours.
