Description
"Tried Hard Enough to Be a Murderer," Says Carmody - Ten to 20 years' imprisonment in Walla Walla prison was punishment meted out by Judge Boyd J. Tallman to W.J. Cole Saturday, for the shooting of Luke Sucevich, cobbler, at 704 Madison st, January 26. "This man tried hard enough to be a murderer." Deputy Prosecutor, John D. Carmody told the court. Sucevich was shot twice by Cole, and it was thought at first that he would die. He rallied, but still has a hole in his skull, where the bullet from Cole's gun entered. Cole was convicted of assault with intent to kill. An accomplice of Cole escaped.
