Description
A peach tree standing on the small farm
of Mr. George M. Hunter, near the dwelling
house, at the limits of this town, this sea
son was heavily laden with luscious fruit— j
in quantity its crop was estimated at six
bushels. Mr. Hunter looked forward to the
pleasure that he and his family would
derive next winter from the peaches, some
canned and some preserved. Lo and behold
he arose one morning lately to find the
tree stripped of its fruit, save alxuit a peck.
Some fellow had visited the premises the
night before and committed the theft, to
the sore disappointment of Mr. Hunter.
