Description
The story now told is that when Collins killed both men he knocked Mrs. Kipp down and stood over her with his knife. He was ready to plunge it into her heart. She became hysterical and pleaded in a whisper for her life. Collins would not listen. He told his wife that he was going to murder Mrs. Kipp and then throw all three bodies overboard. Collins went out on deck to see if the coast was clear. The boy followed his father and there begged him to not another murder to the double tragedy. The boy suggested the story that was told to the police, viz: That both men had been killed while fightinf a duel. The boy then helped carry one body to the other canal boat.
