Description
CRUELLY ASSAULTED HIS OWN AGED FATHER
Persons In the vicinity of No. 416 East Third street, were indignant last evening at the brutal assault made by William Lot, Jr., upon his aged father. The trouble occurred over Mr. Lot remonstrating with his son over wasting too much water in sprinkling the street. The father had been warned by the Water Department that too much water was being used by bis family for 1 sprinkling purposes, and informed him that he would be fined $5 unless he stopped the waste of water. Mr. Lot is one of the oldest engineers on the Maryland division of the P. W. St B. railroad, and is considered an honest and trustworthy man. While at home yesterday evening he noticed that his oldest son was using too much water in sprinkling the street, and told the young man of the notice which was served upon him. The son, who is a big, overgrown fellow, is said to have cursed his father, and told him that he would use as much water as he pleased. The father knowing the penalty for not observing
the Water Department's laws, tried to shut off the water supply, when the son is said to have felled him with a brutal blow in the face. The neighbors, who were sitting outside, saw the occurrence, and were not only shocked by the assault, but were further shocked by hearing the young man curse his
bleeding parent. Mr. Lot was knocked unconscious by the terrific blow delivered by the hand of his son, and his face was cut In several places. It is reported to-day that Mr. Lot has decided to leave his own home and board where he will be more respected than he is by his own family.
