FOR RIDING IN BOYCOTTED CAR
PELTED WITH MUD AND STONES
St. Louis, June 18.—The controversy between the St. Louis Transit company and its striking employees has developed into a struggle between capital and labor along the lines of a boycott.
President Gompers, of the American Federation of Labor, has declared that he will do all in his power to bring the influence of the whole body of organized labor in America to bear upon the local situation in an effort to win the strike for the union. The boycott to be declared will apply not only to the St Louis Transit company, but to every business man, every association and any corporation or individual favoring It In any way.
Mrs. Eva Dom.in was roughly mauled by a mob at Morio street and Broadway yesterday. As she alighted from a Transit car she was quickly surrounded by a crowd of girls, who shouted''scab" at her. A large throng soon Joined the girls. Mrs. Doman ran down several streets with the mob In
pursuit and sought refuge In a saloon in South Broadway, but the proprietor pushed the woman back into the street. A woman living over the saloon succeeded In getting Mrs. Doman to her apartments, but not before both had been pelted with mud and stones. Mrs. Doman was escorted home by a police officer. The police arrested the proprietor of the saloon, charging him with assault and battery.
