NEGRESS FINED FOR ASSAULT, APPEALS
For assault and battery on Dolly Mabry, Negress, nurse in the family of Gamble Latrobe, Florence Truesdale, also a Negress domestic, was fined $200 and costs, with the alternative of spending three months in the workhouse, by Judge Hastings, in Municipal Court this morning.
J. Frank Ball, attorney for the defendant, gave notice of taking an appeal. Bail was thereupon fixed at $300.
The trouble occurred at Rockford Park last Monday, the Truesdale woman using a stick in the assault, badly bruising Dollys face. Dolly said that there was no provocation for the assault, but Florence testified. Dolly told her that her (Florence’s) husband, contemplated getting a divorce and marrying her (Dolly).
