Description
SLURRING REMARKS LEAD TO ASSAULT
Francis A. Givons was fined $5 and costs by Judge Hastings, in Municipal Court this morning, on a charge of assault and battery on Alvin Drajka. Bernard Cunningham was dismissed on a like charge. Drajka was with a girl when, he claimed, Givons and several other youths made a slurring remark to them. When he resented this, he said, Givons struck him. Givons contended that the prosecuting witness struck the first blow, after some one of the other youths had struck him. He said that Drajka had called him and his companions “American pigs” in Polish, which one of his friends happened to be able to understand.
