Description
WHAT HAPPENED TO JONES
John Brown, colored, was charged with committing as assault and battery upon Harry Jones, also colored, of No. 134 Townsend Street. Jones testified that Brown formerly boarded with him, but left owing him a bill of $15, for which he attached his wages. Yesterday as he was about to enter his house Brown accosted him, and, after a few words, struck him in the face, knocking his hat off. As he stooped to pick it up Brown made an attempt to draw a razor. Mrs. Jones corroborated her husband’s testimony, but Brown denied striking Jones and stated that he was intoxicated and his hat fell off. Two witnesses testified likewise. The costs of the case, amounting to $5.85, were imposed.
