Assault's Proximity to Home
Assault, at least within the Perth Amboy Evening News, is a crime which occurs close to home. Or rather, the publishers are only interested in reporting the crime if it occurs close to home. Regardless, as mentioned in the ‘New Jersey’s Perth Amboy Evening News’ section of the project, 85% of the Assault cases within this project’s selection took place within the state of New Jersey. Of those cases a further 41% take place within the city of Perth Amboy itself. The next most prominent area is New Brunswick which is located in Middlesex County, the same county Perth Amboy finds itself in. Furthermore, of the cases not within New Jersey, only one case finds itself outside of the borders of the United States of America. It’s clear that in this instance cases not only skew heavily towards New Jersey, but also towards within the United States.
