Description
The jury in the case of the State vs. F. S. Potter, after remaining out the entire night, returned this morning at 9:30 and received further instructions. Shortly before 10 o'clock a verdict was reached of guilty of assault. Potter, a number of weeks ago, was assaulted by C. H. Washington, colored in the Central saloon. Later, it is alleged, Porter returned and shot the colored man. The charge preferred was assault to do bodily injury. Sentence was not imposed this morning.
