Description
ALLEGED THEFT. Parties Charged Held in Philadelphia for Authorities Here. Thomas Ragan and Joseph Harlan are the names given by two men who are held under arrest in Philadelphia for the authorities here. It is alleged they stole a box containing silverware and cutlery from a Baltimore and Ohio freight car about ten days ago. The stolen goods belong to Mr. Joseph E. Parsons, who lives at No. 24 8th Street northeast, who formerly lived at Johnstown, Pa., the theft of his goods having been committed while they were being shipped here from the Pennsylvania town. Several days after the robbery was committed, it is alleged, the men under arrest disposed of some articles of silverware at a resort in Wilmington. The police were notified, and Inspector Shaw of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad and Captain Miller if the Philadelphia detective corps made in investigation. The arrest of the men mentioned was the result. Late Saturday afternoon Maj. Sylvester received a telephone message from Philadelphia notifying him of the arrests. Further particulars were received yesterday. This morning Detective Weedon went to Philadelphia to look after the case. The Prisoners will probably reach here late this week.
