Description
Not Satisfied With Beating One Man With a Beer Bottle, She Makes a Second Assault. With probably an idea of revenge in her mind, Anne Curtis, a fallen woman, made a vicious attack upon Jailor Corbett at police headquarters early yesterday morning. The woman had been arrested several hours before on a charge of assaulting Edward Parsons in a box in the Star concert hall on Occidental avenue. Parsons, it appears, refused to buy her a bottle of wine, and she severely beat him over the head with a beer bottle. During the excitement that followed, the Curtis woman made her escape. She was arrested a few minutes later by Patrolmen Burkman and Adams, in a room in the Richelleu hotel. About 2 o'clock yesterday morning Jailor Corbett went to the cell in which the Curtis woman was confined, to quiet a disturbance which she was raising. As Corbett opened the door, she sprang forward, and, without warning, plunged a hat-pin into he Jailor's chin. Clerk Easson and Capt. Sullivan hurried to the cell and took the woman in charge. Clerk Easson then held Corbett while Sullivan extracted the pin from his injured chin. Corbett was laid up all day yesterday as a result of the wound. A charge of assault will be preferred against the woman. The police say her former record is very unsavory.
