In-State Crimes
In state stories (10 in 1880; 17 in 1900). 10 cases occured in Salt Lake City in 1880--15 cases occured in Salt Lake City in 1900, with one appearing in Ogden, one in Park City. Evidently there was a dramatic increase in both in-state crimes, and ones reported from the city to which the Herald published from (both in-state/nearby city, terms of report).
1880: Four cases of individuals arrested/fined for public drunkenness (several men, one case involving two 'notorious' women), three cases of assault by men to male victims (one of these involving a sleigh, a vehicle), two cases of men selling liquour without a license (one involving ciruclating/selling liquour into prisons).
1900: Three cases of men selling liquour without a license (one of such, additinally involved ciruclating such into prison once again), ten cases of drunkennes (with three involving women, and one of these cases involving a repeat offense by a woman in being charged for drunkenness), four cases of assault by men tied to drunkenness.
Notably, there is far more variety and quantity to the out of state crimes in 1900 contrasting with 1880--with some trends continuing such as the presence of women in partcipating in these crimes in a very small minority of reports (about ten percent, or 4/40); the prison system being utilized as a subject of alcohol sale and ciruclation in terms of sale without licensure by individuals to 'underground' markets. These reports are overall remarkably short concerning the in state crimes on average, and were objective in their reporting/insight into the cases regarding these criminal reports.
