Description
ARRESTED ON CHARGE OF COUNTERFEITING
WIKESBARRE, Pa., May 30.—Thomas Lewis has been arrested here on the charge of counterfeiting. For some time this part of the State has been flooded with counterfeit silver pieces, chiefly dollars, halves, and quarters.
A clue the police obtained two weeks ago led to the arrest of Lewis, who was overcome after a fight with three of the officers. The police say they found molds and metals in his room, together with about $60 in silver, believed to be counterfeit.
The man said he was developing a new process of making molds for fine work. He worked as a molder at the Sheldon Axle Works.
