The overwhelming majority of these stories are coming from out of state; with 11 of the 40 stories taking place in Virginia whereas the other 29 are located out of state. Of the 11 stories recorded in Virginia, 5 of them are from the 1920s and the other 6 are from the 1900s, so they are evenly split between the two years examined. 26 of the 40 stories are from the East Coast (I am including Louisiana as part of the East Coast), 13 of the 40 stories take place in the Midwest, and 1 story takes place in Alaska.
