Murder in the Evening times-Republican, 1900 & 1920

Race and murder

In both 1900 and 1920 there were not many murder stories that reported on race. Out of all 40 cases there were only 5 mentions of race throughout the stories. In 1900 there were 2 stories of murder that reported having a black alleged offender as well as a black alleged victim (there was 1 reporting of this in 1920). There was 1 case that reported a black alleged offender and a white alleged victim.  Then in 1900 as well there was a story that reported a black alleged offender. Reporting race within murder stories did not seem to happen very often in 1900 and became even more uncommon in 1920.
