Murder in the Evening World, 1900 & 1920

Stage of Legal System

Twenty six out of forty of my stories took place in the court. Three out of forty cases in the dataset took place in jails or prisons, and nine out of forty cases were extralegal, either happening at home, in the street, or somewhere else, usually at the site of the murder. The cases that include a trial tended to be much longer than other cases and were especially sensational.  An example of a case like that being, "Eva Wood, Angry, Slaps at Lawyer." Another sensational court case included a nickname for the murderer. This case is, "Dream Killer Taken on Warrant for Homicide" where the murderer is dubbed "the dream slayer."
