Jailed for Theft. William Burlew, a well-dressed man, apparently about forty years old, was a prisoner today in the Police Court charged with larceny. The defendant admitted having stolen a zither valued at $15 from his brother, John Burlew, and a gold-headed cane from his mother. The cane was a present from the Metropolitan M. E. Church, corner of 4½ and C streets northwest, to Burlew’s father, now deceased, several years ago. The defendant was fined $50 by Judge Kimball, and in default of payment was committed to jail for six months. The arrest was made and the property recovered by Detectives Parham and Hartigan.
