SPURIOUS $300,000 HELD FOR INQUIRY
Three Men Captured In Chicago Deny Counterfeiting Nicaraguan Notes.
CHICAGO. Oct. 23,—Secret Service operatives are today weaving a strong net around the three men arrested last night for printing counterfeit Nicaraguan notes. The spurious notes, amounting to $300,000 in United States money, are now in the hands of the detectives. There are eight big bundles.
George B. Williams, president of the company which printed the notes, and Richard J. Trumbull, an employee, two of the prisoners, adhere to the statement they had been led by H. H. Secreest, the third prisoner, to believe that he was an agent of the Nicaraguan government, authorized to have the notes printed.
