Geography of Sodomy
The vast majority of sodomy cases in Minnesota newspapers take place in-state. In-state cases were primarily composed of simple court listings or sentencings. With a few exceptions, they usually didn't contain many thorough details and were often lumped together with other crimes. It was the out-of-state reportings that were far more detailed in terms of what happened, identifying the offender and victim, and the charges incurred.
Finding thirty cases within Minnesota newspapers is already something unusual, detailed or not. Minnesota is an outlier in the number of cases it covered during an 1880-1910 time frame, as it is often difficult to find reportings of sodomy in the newspapers of other states.
