TROUBLE IN HOUSEHOLD
But Mayor Boyd Directed the Principals to Agree
Special to the Evening Journal.
New Castle, June 4.—Domestic relations In the household of Joseph Vance, colored, are not as pleasant as they might be. This was evidenced Saturday night when Mary James, Joseph’s housekeeper, had him before Mayor Boyd on charges of assault and battery and disorderly conduct.
Mary testified that Joseph had come home In the afternoon and had assaulted her without provocation. Joseph told a tale which placed the trouble in a different light before the magistrate and
as he was not desirous of adding more trouble to the household by sending Joseph to Jail, he told Joseph to return to his home and peaceably settle the trouble with his housekeeper. And Joseph did as he was directed.
