Description
FALSELY IMPRISONED FOR FIVE MONTHS
Suspected With Counterfeiting Money Is Later Found to Be “Good.”
BRISTOL, Va., Oct. 6,—John Preston, who was arrested here by United State officers last spring, suspected of being a counterfeiter and having in his possession a quantity of money at that time pronounced spurious has been released by the grand jury of the United States Court at Abingdon.
It develops that officers have made a serious mistake and the money is all genuine. However, Preston has been in jail for about five months, unable to give bond.
The money was pronounced genuine and the grand jury failed to make an indictment.
Preston’s home is in Johnson City.
