Drawings
Soldiers left far fewer drawings than signatures as graffiti. In part that could reflect the difficulty of drawing with the implements they used. It could also reflect the limited skill of many soldiers. It also seems likely that inscribing their name was more important to most soldiers than drawing an image.
Some drawings are related to the war and the military service also represented by the unit names and the written statements and taunts. Other images have a less obvious relation to the experience of soldiers: drawings of men who do not appear to be soldiers, of women, animals and ships. A number of these drawings are richly detailed; only a few are crude sketches.
