Children

This portrait taken ca 1890 depicts the entire Marvin Bolton family.

From left to right: Addie, May (standing), Melvin, Rosa (standing), Fred, and Marvin

The 1870 Census records an eldest child, Orsell, who does not appear in later records. Presumably he must not have survived past infancy.

The eldest surviving child of Addie and Marvin Bolton, Melvin was born May 25, 1871. In 1900, he married a woman named Minnie, and they had two children (Glen and Leah.) Melvin, like his father, was a farmer.

May, sometimes recorded as "Mae" or "Addie Mae" was born June 7, 1873. She married Allen McDonald (Mac) Dame. May and Mac raised two sons in Kalamazoo, Michigan

Marvin's younger daughter, Rosa, was born November 23, 1878. She married farmer, Morris Foote and had at least two sons.

While Marvin's youngest son, Fred, inherited the family farm, he didn't stay with farming. Fred moved to Pontiac where he worked in the automobile industry.

Marvin and Addie Bolton raised four children--May, Melvin, Rosa and Fred--on their farm in Lapeer, Michigan.

Marvin is well remembered by his family as a loving father as well as a war hero. His great-grandson (the grandchild of his eldest son, Melvin) is named after Marvin and still visits the family farm, along with others of Marvin's descendants every Memorial Day to remember him.
