Post-War New York
Following his honorable discharge from the Union army, Milon returned to New York from the South. Having acquired a debilitating injury that would prove to be permanent, Milon's post-war years show instability and continous financial problems. The post-war years see Milon go back to farming life for a short time. The majority of his experience, howeve, would be in manual labor for wages that would often fail to provide for his family. Milon slowly acquired more and more debt. He and his family survived by the care of his neighbors and the credit of his grocer.
