Beginnings
Milon Oliver Robinson was born in West Sparta, New York on January 31st 1841. Raised by his parents, Levi and Desdemona, Milon lived with 6 brothers and 2 sisters. At the time of the 1850 census record, Milon's grandparents, Levi (Senior) and Elizabeth, also were living with the family. The Robinsons were a farming family in western New York state. Enlistees in the Civil War often came from farming backgrounds, either as farmers themselves or as sons of farmers. We will see Milon returning to both farming and western New York after the war.
