The 136th faired better than many other regiments during the war. New York provided a great number of fighting men for the war. It also suffered some of the greatest losses. This graph shows how the damage disease causes is even more dangerous than the actual warmaking.
During the 136th's time in Georgia, Milon was promoted to corporal. Despite this step towards a military career, Milon would be taken captive by Confederate troops after his promotion.
The early Georgia campaign did not carry as many casualties for the 136th as other battles, but it proved extraordinarily harmful to Milon.
