Muster Rolls

Not long after Adam's enlistment, the 29th New York Infantry swiftly moved out and arrived in Northern Virginia, just in time for the Battle of Bull Run in Manassas on July 21st. After the battle, the 29th would remain in the DC area as defense of the city until April of 1862. His regiment would travel for two weeks to Winchester VA in April, and participate in the Battle of Sperryville on June 8th, remaining in Sperryville for a month.

Adam would then take part in Popes Campaign in Northern Virginia from mid-August to late-September. During this time the Battle of Groveton and the Second Battle of Bull Run would take place. The 29th would resume their defense of Washington DC until November before moving on to Fredericksburg in mid-December. The would then take part of the "Mud March", the ill fated winter offensive attempted by the Union, from January 20th to 24th. It was probably here that Adam would trace his rheumatism back to.

The regiment would remain in the area until late April, in the Stafford Court house. They would then move out to take part in the Battle of Chancellorsville from May 1st through 5th.

Soon after this, on June 20, 1863, Adam and the rest of the 29th New York Infantry would muster out, just in time to miss out of the Battle of Gettysburg.
